THOMAS K LIBBY, formerly Cannondale Antiques and The Studio of Wilton, Connecticut, is now located in Historic South Norwalk, easily accessible from I-95 and the Merritt Parkway (see Where to Find Us), and is now under an umbrella name with The Studio ~ ceramics restoration and conservation. Our new location is a bigger, brighter space with a well-lit studio and is every bit as comfortable and charming as was our shop in Cannondale Village. Thomas K Libby specializes in antique and vintage ceramics including extensive collections of Japanese Awaji and Kyoto pottery, Western art pottery, and Asian porcelains.
We hold the country's largest collection of ceramics from Awaji Island, Japan, as well as a collection of related pottery from the city of Kyoto. Called "extraordinarily elegant" and "delightfully animated" in a recent review of our collection by The New York Times, these Japanese pottery styles are thought to have had a profound influence on the aesthetic and art pottery movements in the West. The Awaji pottery is admired for its bright colors, robust shapes, and creatively incised, painted, and applied decoration. While there is a wide breadth of styles and quality, our collection mainly focuses on the finer examples of the form, while still maintaining a keenly honed selection for the beginning collector.
Thomas K Libby has grown out of the original ceramics restoration business known as The Studio, and Cannondale Antiques, purveyors of fine antique and vintage ceramics. Just as our collection has grown, so have we!
